Designed for all levels of fitness
and skill, Mt Lowry Challenge attracts around 400 runners and walkers
each year. Challenge your own personal best by following in the
footsteps of elite runners like Melissa Moon, Carline Thomas or James Coubrough. Or if
you are new to mountain running, this short course has all the elements
needed to develop your skills. Walkers, this is one of the best
walking races around with plenty of up and down on well formed tracks.
The track undulates through beech and manuka forest and enjoys fantastic views over the Wellington Harbour.

THREE RACES TO CHOOSE FROM ... RUNNING AND WALKING SECTIONS JUNIOR CHALLENGE AND BUSINESS, FAMILY AND SPORTS TEAM CHALLENGE
- Vasque –Extreme Mt Lowry Challenge. This is adventure running at its very best in fact this is extreme adventure racing! Over a course of 22km withwell marked
and requires good navigational skills, the Vasque - Extreme Mt Lowry
Challenge is for experienced adventure racers and mountain runners only.
- Bridgedale – Mt Lowry CLASSIC Challenge & SWAZI Junior Challenge. Both races take the
same course of 11.75km with a 400m climb this is Wellington's premier
mountain run. Designed for both experienced racers and newcomers to
adventure racing and mountain running it has running and walking
sections. There are some wonderful harbour and bush views on the way
especially from Mt. Lowry.
