Leadership Development

"..[they] work alongside our leadership team to initiate and embed a change programme designed to turn around our existing culture. ...They managed our expectations well, over delivered and connected well with our people at all levels of the business. "

Feltex Carpets Ltd

How do leadership and management differ? Essentially, managers have a defined position within a company and are concerned with employing organisational resources effectively and efficiently. Their effectiveness arises from successfully stabilising and leveraging these resources. Leaders however can exist at all levels of an organisation because leadership is a mutual and reciprocal relationship between a person and those who want to follow them. Leaders have the ability to inspire and motivate others along a pathway towards a future that is promising and which they believe in. Change and innovation requires both leadership and management." Kaye Paardekooper, Senior Consultant.

The leadership - followership relationship can differ in nature giving rise to leadership descriptions such as servant leader (e.g: Mother Theresa), visionary leader (e.g: Dick Hubbard), charismatic leader (e.g: Nelson Mandela) and transformational/strategic leader (e.g: Steven Tindall). All of these leadership relationships are valid in different situations.

On your leadership programme we will explore the nature of leadership, engage you in a number of experiences designed to discover and develop your own leadership strengths. You will be encouraged to learn from others on your programme and from reflecting on your own leadership strengths and development needs.

You will be presented with frameworks, models and research on successful leadership - particularly leadership within the New Zealand context - and have the opportunity to experience leading others and building the "skills of leadership".

Leadership programmes:

Movers and Shakers

Organisations today are flatter in structure and this removes the traditional progression pathways available in more hierarchical organisations. How do you recognise and reward leadership potential within your organisation?

Movers and Shakers is a programme to do just that by accelerating development of people within your organisation who are demonstrating leadership potential. They may not currently hold a leadership or management position but they will have the potential to make a difference . . . to move and shake . . . to increase the performance of a team or area within your company.

Movers and Shakers recognises people who go the extra mile and rewards them with a personal development journey over 6 - 12 months. We provide the tools, experiences and knowledge to facilitate leadership growth and release potential. Movers and Shakers can be targeted at participants at all levels of your organisation.

Future Leaders

Designed to identify and develop leaders within your sector group, the Future Leaders programme is a nine month experiential and project based development programme. Participants selected for the programme are supported through residential courses, mentoring and coaching.

We can work with you to design, develop and deliver a Future Leadership programme tailored to your sector.
